Scuppernong Books to Host Reading by Selected Authors
Scuppernong Books will host a reading by four authors whose work is included in the 2017 Flying South, a Winston-Salem Writers literary competition. The reading will be held on Oct. 23 at 7 p.m. at Scuppernong Books, 304 S. Elm St. in downtown Greensboro. Rebecca Davis, winner of the Best Fiction and the President’s Favorite awards, will read her winning short story, and John Haugh, Michael Gaspeny and Rick Jordan will read their submissions, as well as other work they have written.
This is the fourth annual Flying South competition and the book, which is available for purchase for $12, features the winning entries, along with 45 additional writers. It is also available on Amazon. Cover art was designed by local artist Barbara Rizza Mellin. The event is free and the public is invited to come meet and mingle with the authors who will be signing books after the event.
Founded in 2005, Winston-Salem Writers is a group of writers who write fiction, non-fiction, plays and poetry, and who care about the art and craft of writing.
