40+ Stage Company to Present “Driving Miss Daisy”
40+Stage Company will open their 2018 season with “Driving Miss Daisy,” directed by Sheri Masters, at Hanesbrand Theatre. The play will feature Robin Voiers as Miss Daisy Werthan, Ralph L.Shaw as Hoke Colburn, her chauffeur, and David Bowen as her son, Boolie. The Pulitzer Prize-winning play by Alfred Uhry covers the 25-year relationship between a wealthy, strong-willed, aging Jewish woman and her equally indomitable black chauffeur as they deal with social changes in the South in the 1960s.
Performances will be held in the Hanesbrands Theatre, 251 N. Spruce Street, Winston-Salem, on Friday, March 23, at 7:30 p.m.; Saturday, March 24 at 2 p.m..; Sunday, March 25 at 2 p.m.; Wednesday, March 28 at 7:30 p.m.; and Thursday, March 29 at 7:30 p.m.; Friday, March 30 at 7:30 p.m.; and Saturday, March 31, at 2:00 and 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $25 for adults, $20 for seniors and $12 for students, with special $5 ticket night on Wednesday, March 28, and BOGO ticket night on Thursday, March 29. This is the first production of 40+ Stage Company’s 2018 season. Also on the schedule is: “Hot Flashes,” June 8 – 17; “A Midsummer Night’s Dream,” Sept. 28 – Oct. 7; and “Showtune 2,” Nov. 30 – Dec. 9.
