SAM & Eggs to Take Place Virtually on September 30

WINSTON-SALEM, NC (SEPTEMBER 24, 2020)—Samaritan Ministries will hold its annual SAM & Eggs fundraising breakfast on September 30 beginning at 8 a.m.  The event is open to the public and will be virtual this year at samaritanforysth.org.  Samaritan Ministries has a goal of raising $167,000 from SAM & Eggs.

“SAM & Eggs is a great way to begin your day on a positive note, this year from the leisure of your own home or office,” Samaritan Ministries Executive Director Jan Kelly said.  “Our program will last only about 30 minutes and is a wonderful way to hear more about our work at Samaritan Ministries and the critical role that we fill for the local community.”

“The need for additional financial support is greater than ever, and SAM & Eggs is the kick-off to our fall ‘season of giving’” Kelly added. “The great thing about having a virtual event is that there’s no limit to the number who can participate.  SAM & Eggs is completely open to the public, and I urge everyone to watch online the morning of September 30.  I promise that it will be the highlight of your day.”

This year, those who are typically known as Table Captains for SAM & Eggs are being referred to as Virtual Recruiters, and they are inviting friends far and wide to join this virtual event in support of Samaritan Ministries.  Additionally, Dewey’s Bakery is offering a 25 percent donation of orders placed in advance for in-store pickup at local.deweys.com.  For those interested in ordering breakfast to enjoy while watching the event, enter the code SAMARITAN at the Dewey’s checkout, and the 25 percent will be given to Samaritan. This code is good until September 30.

Samaritan operates the Soup Kitchen, Winston-Salem’s only soup kitchen, which serves an average of 300 to 400 guests daily and the Samaritan Inn, a 70-bed homeless shelter for men. In 2019, the Soup Kitchen served 139,039 warm meals, and the Samaritan Inn provided 26,133 nights of shelter (762 different men had a safe place to stay).
